ALEX CAMERON is one of a kind: a notorious misfit, enigmatic storyteller and subtle concept artist. Laneway trainspotters will recognise him from Sydney-based electronic trio Seekae, but his solo project is from a completely different world. On his new album Forced Witness, Cameron writes from the perspective of his adopted stage character, an old-time lounge singer who can’t catch a break. With a charming sense of gravitas, Cameron sings about loserdom, failure and humiliation, which we reckon is pretty ironic for an artist who enjoys such wide acclaim. Be sure to check out ‘Strangers Kiss’, his recent duet with Angel Olsen that comes with a video clip starring and directed by Jemima Kirke of Girls fame.
