LANEWAY ACTS KILLED IT IN THE HOTTEST 100; TRIPLE J BROADCASTS LIVE FROM MELBOURNE LANEWAY

The highest of high fives go to all the Laneway acts that made their mark on Sunday’s Hottest 100 - The JezabelsCloud ControlHaimCHVRCHESLorde and of course Vance Joy, who romped in at #1.  What a huge achievement.

For the first time ever, our pals at triple j will be broadcasting live from Melbourne, which is great news for everyone. They’ll be chatting to loads of artists and broadcasting a bunch of sets live too so your memories will be captured 4eva. For more info, head here.

Also - Lorde won two motherflippin' GRAMMYS for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of The Year. What a woman.

ON THE DAY

You know the drill - wear closed-shoe toes; wear sunscreen; bring your wallet (there are limited ATMs on site); and be a legend to your fellow festival mates. Consider public transport or hop on your bike - there’s plenty of designated bike parking in every city. Here’s a city-by-city guide to all the amazing stuff that goes on off-stage:

Brisbane:

This year we are introducing a new exciting aspect to festival dining: the Laneway Larder. Sample food from Brisbane’s finest eateries: PopoloPeasantSwamp DogBrat Haus and Govinda’s.  Pick up a bargain at the vintage markets and the Jet Black Cat vinyl fair or kick back in style, thanks to the dwdc designs and The Outpost. Read all about it here.

Melbourne:

The days of inedible festival food are o-ver.  Leading Melbourne joints Izakaya Den and San Telmo will be among the outlets supplying the chow.  The markets return, and have been specially curated by Finders Keepers for you.  Go crate-digging at the Planet of Sound vinyl fair.  Plus we’ve enlisted a bunch of artists including Erin Greer, Snuff Puppets, Footscray Community Arts Centre, Waterside and more.  More info here.

Sydney:

Sydney punters are in for a real treat.  Acclaimed dance company De Quincey Co are presenting INNER GARDEN, a site-specific performance installation on the hour, every hour until 8PM. 2Cubed is an outdoor exhibition of sculpture, painting, performance and installation works by 10 recent graduates of the University of Sydney’s Sydney College of the Arts. Food comes from our friends at Longrain and cult gelateria MessinaPlanet of Sound will present the vinyl fair, and Finders Keepers curate the markets. Sweet!

Adelaide:

We’re so excited to unveil the new site at Port Adelaide. It’s incredible. Enhance your experience by checking out some cinema at the 9:16 Film Festival, which celebrates short films made in portrait format, or check out the Vitals Stage presented by Format, a brand new stage which features awesome local talent including Choral Grief. Old Mate, EMU and more. There’ll be no shortage of good food either, courtesy of local vendors Chimichurri Grill, Phat Buddha Rolls, Weinerbago, Sneaky Pickle and more. All the info here.

Fremantle:

Laneway Fremantle will host markets from local Freo boutiques and two special pop-up restaurants on the new site. Let Barque take you on an aromatic ocean trail from the lands of spice and cinnamon, schezuan, clove and cassia. X-Wray will be serving up some delicious meals from their modern Australian dinner menu (in festival size of course) so come check them out.

We are incredibly pleased to host the Yiriman Project Market Stall. Purchase one-of-a-kind, hand-made items by some of the Kimberley's best Aboriginal artisans. Take this incredible opportunity to stop by the stall to meet the women themselves, have a yarn, and to find out more about the Yiriman Project. All proceeds go directly to the Yiriman Project and to the artisans.
